The Laboratory was organized in 1991. Its staff supervises the preservation of documents and microfilms at the Library and Archives. Our conservators process paper documents from all ZIH collections, working on the top modern equipment we owe to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C., and cooperating with other conservation workshops in Poland.

Major projects realized at the Laboratory concern the Holocaust documents. In 2006 the conservation of the Ringelblum Archives was completed. Present projects include processing the archival collections of Jewish Self-Help organization and war memoirs.

The equipment of the Microfilm Laboratory, set up in 1993, has also been contributed by the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
